PRE-INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS

CONDITIONS OF BATTERING
In accordance with the Spanish standard UNE-EN-350-2 and our professional experience, we recommend:
- Install tropical wood slats of durability class 4.
- The density must be greater than or equal to 650 kg/m3 , which facilitates the fastening of any mechanical anchor.
- The minimum cross-section will be 50 x 30 mm . The battens must have a cross-section appropriate to the format (in terms of width and thickness) of the board they are to support.
- The maximum distance between the axes of the battens for each type of flooring is 40 centimetres .
- Battens should be installed around the perimeter of the covered area to provide a support surface for smaller edges.
- We recommend the use of AISI 316 L (A-4) stainless steel screws and clips.
- Each slat must be level and secured to the support.

INSTALLATION SYSTEMS
STAPLE INSTALLATION SYSTEM (HH)
- Place the piece with the screw, without adjusting
- Apply a drop of flexible adhesive, Sikabond 152 or a similar product, to the batten.
- Gently lift the staple with a hook and place the next board in its place.
- Place the piece in position by gently tapping it from the side using a 5 mm stop.
- Screw in, overcoming the pressure exerted by the clamping wings, until reaching the batten.
- Apply a small amount of adhesive, such as Würth Multikraft or similar, to the heads.
Due to variations in ambient humidity and the hygroscopic nature of wood, it is common for movements to occur that alter the spacing between the installation boards.
Generally, you will observe the following:
Spacing between boards of ± 3 mm in winter and 7 mm in summer.

SCREW-MOUNTED INSTALLATION SYSTEM (S4S E4E)
- Apply a drop of flexible adhesive, such as Sikabond 152 or similar, to the batten.
- Place the next board in position, leaving a 5 mm gap, using a stop.
- Drill the piece and the batten with a 4.5 mm drill bit, the minimum distance to the edges will be 15 mm
- Place the new part in position using a 5 mm stop.
- Apply a drop of rigid adhesive, such as Würth Multikraft or a similar product, to the ends.
- If screws are required near the end of the part, leave a minimum space of 15 to 20 mm.
INSTALLATION EXAMPLES
FAULTY INSTALLATION
Why can we have two installations close together, using the same wood species, profile, and format, one of which looks great and the other of which is disappointing?
The most common response is, "The problem is the wood!" However, the reality is that most decking problems are due to poor installation and improper use of materials.
Factors that lead to failure:
- Excessive spacing between the axes of the parts.
- Low-density batten .
- Poor anchoring of the piece to the batten
- Inadequate screws and fixings (the use of plastic fixings is not recommended).
- Adhesive-free installation on headers and between battens and flooring.
- Flooring with an average humidity level above 18%.
- Poor maintenance.

PROPER INSTALLATION
Wood has been used for many years in outdoor installations.
In the past, many facilities used local woods that, although deteriorating over time, still look good today! This shows that the problem isn't with the wood.
Many installers have incorporated innovative methods and products for this type of roofing.
The following requirements are suitable for preserving outdoor wooden floors in optimal condition:
- Use of tropical wood battens .
- Stainless steel screws and fasteners
- Appropriate adhesives
- Pallets with adequate drying and machining
- Easy maintenance .

"Proper installation ensures the beauty and long-lasting durability of your outdoor deck. With regular maintenance, it will remain in excellent condition for many years."
RECOMMENDATIONS
To ensure the durability and attractiveness of your tropical wood outdoor deck, we suggest following these recommendations:
- Flexible adhesive : Apply dots of Sikabond 152 flexible adhesive between the batten and the floor . This helps secure the floor and allows for natural movement of the wood.
- Rigid adhesive : Connect the ends of the boards with a rigid adhesive suitable for outdoor use . This prevents moisture penetration into the wood and prevents damage.
